Diana Nyad

Author, Swimmer, Speaker

Diana Nyad knows a thing or two about long-term goals. At the age of 64, in her fifth and final attempt, she completed the 110-mile swim from Cuba to Florida in 2013. “It looks like a solitary sport, but it takes a team,” she said after the 53-hour journey. Once one of the greatest distance swimmers in the world, Nyad set numerous world records in the 70s, such as circling Manhattan Island and crossing the 102.5 miles between the Bahamas and Florida – a record for both men and women.

Nyad became a respected sports broadcaster after retiring from swimming, reporting for NPR, ABC, Fox Sports and the New York Times. A published author of three books, Nyad has an earned reputation as a unique and entertaining public speaker over a variety of audiences. Nyad’s stage presence is so renowned that she recently debuted her one-woman show, ‘Onward! The Diana Nyad Story,’ in Los Angeles and Key West.
